Knowing how leads are engaging with your marketing touchpoints and how they visit your website is crucial to any marketing strategy. Salespanel tracks where your leads come from and can even pin-point to the keyword a lead searched for with proper parameters.
Salespanel tracks lead source in two ways:
Referrer tracking: Salespanel tracks the referring source of your leads without any marketing parameters. The process works by identifying the HTTP referer to detect the originating source of the lead.
UTM and ValueTrack parameter tracking: A UTM parameter is a string added by marketing at the end of a URL to track it’s originating source. The parameter used for source tracking is utm_source. Salespanel detects this parameter and logs it as the originating source of the lead.
Salespanel can also track leads with tracking templates provided by advertising platforms. For Google ads, the template is called ValueTrack parameters. If you use the tracking parameter for your Google ads, Salespanel can track which campaigns your leads came from, which keyword they searched from, which advert they viewed, etc. For a detailed guide on how to set them up, please check out this article.
A lead’s source information can be used to segment and score leads and also trigger marketing automation systems.
